South East Asia
The aviation industry has faced major challenges from the Covid-19 pandemic. However, in an interview with Darren Hulst, Vice President for Commercial Marketing at Boeing, he projected that air travel in Southeast Asia will grow 5.7 percent over the next 20 years. He indicated that Southeast Asia’s fundamental growth drivers remain robust. With an expanding middle-class and growth in private consumption, the region’s economy has grown by nearly 70 percent over the last decade, which increases propensity to travel and that governments in the region continue to recognise the travel and tourism sectors as important drivers of economic growth. Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore has as well announced that it is crucial to adapt new operations models for air travel following Covid-19. Higher standards of safety, cleanliness, and low-touch alternatives for terminal processes is a must, and these obligations with high demands needs to meet supply.
