East Africa was a hotspot for adventure tourism activities before Covid-19, and has during the pandemic faced major challenges trying to recover. The aviation industry is of critical importance to the economic development of countries such as Tanzania and Kenya that heavily rely on tourism. The governments in several countries in East Africa are expanding their air transport sector, by expanding the infrastructure and buying more aircrafts - this is done after an ambition to come back stronger after the pandemic. Therefore, significant market opportunities exist in East Africa, since the current weak infrastructure could use an upgrade.
